In 1586, during the government of Pedro Menéndez, the English pirate Francis Drake attacked St. Augustine, the capital of Florida, and his raid caused the burn of many documents (including account records), so Argüelles had to make a new inventory to reflect all that still, after the fire, remained in Florida.〔 ==References==
